The result: A very large open plan kitchen / dinning room with amazing timber cladding on the rear elevation. A combination of sliding and bifold doors allows great flexibility with the garden. The London stock brick wall is a great feature in the kitchen. The small but beautiful garden functions well for the young children as their mother works in the house

Project brief: To create modern contemporary kitchen extension and increase the size and light in an existing loft conversion using the houses permitted development rights.
The result: A very large open plan kitchen with a stunning glass roof and ultra modern kitchen that floods the ground floor with light. The huge floor to ceiling heights were utilised by full height doors where possible. The loft was extended using the houses permitted development rights and a roof terrace added.

Project brief: To create an open plan, kitchen extension which maximised the use of natural light. Additionally to create a down stairs WC, a utility room and create a second floor large family shower room in the loft.
The result: A stunning large kitchen full of natural light that connects with a landscaped rear garden. Utilising a combination of the height and a glass roof we were able to create a beautifully light extension. The loft extension and family bathroom provides a large wet room that also benefits from a great deal of natural light. This was achieved using both roof lights and windows. Additionally a patio was added to the rear of the bathroom.
Location of property: Chiswick St Albans Avenue W4 5JS Local planning borough: Ealing. The property was also in a conservation area.
Project brief: The client wanted to utilise the unused space at the side of the kitchen and to extend to the rear to create a large kitchen dining area.
The result: By using a wrap around glass roof, the kitchen extension became very light and airy. The white kitchen and the light grey floor tiles helped create a very clean feeling for the kitchen. Clever use of strip led lights helps to create a warm and atmospheric space. The result was a great entertaining and family space.

Project brief: Turn a 1 bed basement garden flat into a 2 bed with lots of natural light
The result: Large flat glass roof lights flood light into the kitchen and the new second bedroom. The large garden becomes part of the same same space as the kitchen due to the 2 very large doors on the kitchen. The use of a subtle shades of white on the flooring, walls and kitchen give a feeling of space and light. The master bedroom now has an en suite and their is also a family bathroom.
Location of property: Mayfair Green Street W1K 7FZ Local planning borough: Westminster. The freeholders are Grosvenor Estates and the property is in a Westminster conservation area. Urbane Design Architects have worked with Grosvenor on many projects and know their requirements.
Project brief: To modernise a dated Georgian central London town house and to fill the house with natural light. The brief was also to maintain the original beautiful architectural features and compliment them with modern bespoke details.
The result: By keeping features of architectural merit from the original Georgian house and sensitively adding very modern details a light and airy beautiful house was created. A glass roof was added so the owners could utilise the roof deck and flood the house with light. The floor to ceiling frameless American oak doors create an incredible wow factor with 3.5 meters door in places. The property had all windows changed from single glazed sash windows to double glazed. It is in a Westminster conservation area and this required planning permission.

Project brief: Create an open plan living dining area without compromising on garden space. Additionally the client wanted to add a downstairs wc, add additional storage and resolve the issue of head height under the stairs as well as install an intelligent home audio and visual system. To be able to start works quickly the design complied with permitted development.
The result: A fabulous reconfigured ground floor created a home with flexible living space. The use of 3 sets of bi-fold doors to the ground floor allowed for entertaining space in the summer. A dropped floor in the living room created impressive ceiling heights and allowed for a more natural floor from the living room to the kitchen. Full height doors created a grand entrance to the living room. The combination of glass risers and oak treads created a light and airy staircase with interesting glimpses through into different parts of the house.
